Admission Requirements
Applicants must complete and submit an Institute of Medical Ultrasound application for admission. The submitted application should include:
• Three (3) letters of recommendation
• Confirmation of an obtained High School Diploma/GED or bachelor’s degree or higher (a copy of the diploma is acceptable)
• High School Transcripts and transcripts from all college’s attended (showing credits earned and degree awarded, if applicable)
- Unofficial transcripts can be accepted for admission; However, Official Transcripts MUST be provided prior to you started classes. If you do not submit Official Transcripts before the start of the term for which you are admitted, you will have to delay your start term.
• $50.00 NON-REFUNDABLE Application fee payable through the PAYMENT tab on the homepage
• Drug Screen & Background Check
- Applicants are responsible for the cost of the screening and background check. Likewise, they are also responsible for supplying the school with the results of both no later than two weeks prior to the start of the term for which you have been admitted. This means don’t wait until the last minute.
Applicants must also meet the following criteria:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Evaluated and translated Foreign High School*
*Any student submitting proof of high school from a foreign country for consideration of admission is required to provide a translation and evaluation.
2023/2024 Application Deadlines
Fall 2024 Term | Winter 2024 Term Spring 2024 Term | Summer 2024 Term
September 30, 2024 I January 2, 2024 April 1, 2024 | July 1, 2024
All applications submitted after a specific term deadline will be automatically considered for admission the following term. Therefore, if you apply for the Winter 2024 term after 1/2/2024, your application will be accepted, but once admitted, you will not be able to start until the Spring 2024 term which begins on April 1, 2024. Please keep our deadlines in mind.
Testing and Interview Requirement
Acceptance into the program is based on the applicant successfully passing the IMU Entrance Exam as well as performing well on the interview.
Criteria for the interview include:
• Professional Appearance
• Articulation and communication skills
• Knowledge of sonography profession
• Schedule availability (classes and clinicals require full time attendance, so you must be able to attended both classes and clinicals without issue in order to complete the program successfully)
Testing and interviews will be held weekly on Friday’s between 9am and 12pm. Once your completed application is reviewed, you will be given a date and time slot for your testing/interview. Spaces are limited and are assigned in the order in which the completed application is received.
