The Institute of Medical Ultrasound (IMU) was founded through the vision of Dr. Dexter Page, MD, a practicing perinatologist in metro Atlanta whose medical practice focuses on advanced ultrasound assessments of fetal development. After years of experiencing challenges in recruiting qualified sonographers, Dr. Page recognized a critical need for a program that delivers high-quality education and training in diagnostic medical sonography. This realization led to the establishment of IMU—an institution designed to provide students with exceptional clinical and academic preparation.

At the time of IMU’s creation, few options existed for applicants seeking a reputable ultrasound school with a proven record of excellence. Through his work with students from other programs, Dr. Page gained direct insight into clinical training gaps and identified the need to elevate both educational standards and the professional readiness of future sonographers.
