ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To apply for admission to the Institute of Medical Ultrasound, applicants must submit a completed IMU application along with the following:
Submit one of the following:
- High School / GED Transcript
Proof of a high school diploma or GED with a minimum 2.7 GPA.
- College / University Transcript
An unofficial transcript showing completion of a degree is acceptable and should be uploaded during the application process.
A $50 non-refundable application fee must be paid through the IMU Portal under the Financial Aid Tab.
Cash payments are not accepted.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment.
Students who completed their education outside the United States must have their high school or college transcripts translated and evaluated prior to enrollment.

Testing and Interview Requirements
Acceptance into the program is based on the applicant successfully passing the IMU entrance exam as well as performing well during the interview assessment.
IMU Entrance Exam
The entrance exam for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is a knowledge-based assessment that covers reading comprehension, basic arithmetic, and grammar. While no formal study materials are required, applicants are encouraged to be well-rested on the day of the exam to ensure optimal performance. The exam is scheduled upon completion of the IMU online application.
Interview Assessment
The interview assessment serves as a platform for open dialogue between the institution and the applicant. Key discussion topics include the applicant’s motivation for pursuing a career in diagnostic medical sonography, important program dates and deadlines, class and clinical rotation schedules, and tuition information.
Applicants are encouraged to use this opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns or topics of interest. The interview is a chance for both the applicant and the institution to become more acquainted.
Interviews are scheduled after the applicant has successfully completed their entrance exam.
