Admission Requirements
Applicants must complete and submit an Institute of Medical Ultrasound application for admission. The submitted application should include:
• One of the following transcripts:
High School/GED: Confirmation of an obtained high school diploma with at least a 2.7 GPA
College/University: An unofficial transcript demonstrating a completed degree are accepted and should be submitted during the application process.
• A $50.00 non-refundable application fee payable through the IMU portal under the Student Financial Services tab. Cash payments are not accepted.
- Applicants are responsible for the cost of the screening and background check. Likewise, they are also responsible for supplying the school with the results of both no later than two weeks prior to the start of the term for which you have been admitted.
Applicants must also meet the following criteria:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Evaluated and translated Foreign High School*
*Any student submitting proof of high school from a foreign country for consideration of admission is required to provide a translation and evaluation.
Testing and Interview Requirements
Acceptance into the program is based on the applicant successfully passing the IMU entrance exam as well as performing well during the interview assessment.
IMU Entrance Exam:
The entrance exam for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is a knowledge-based assessment that covers reading comprehension, basic arithmetic, and grammar. While no formal study materials are required, applicants are encouraged to be well-rested on the day of the exam to ensure optimal performance.
Interview Assessment:
The interview assessment at IMU serves as a platform for open and professional dialogue between the institution and the applicant. Key discussion topics include the applicant’s motivation for pursuing a career in diagnostic medical sonography, important program dates and deadlines, class and clinical rotation schedules, and tuition information. Applicants are expected to maintain a professional appearance and effectively articulate their reasons for selecting IMU as the institution for their sonography education and training.
Interviews are scheduled after the applicant has successfully completed their online application.
